Project and Implementation Management

GenoLogics provides world-class project management and implementation services to every customer. We recognize that every lab environment is different, so our team treats every implementation uniquely. We assign certified and experienced project managers to every customer to ensure installations, implementations, training, and communications between GenoLogics and its customers goes smoothly.

Below we have outlined the methodology and approach we employ for every LIMS implementation. We strive to ensure customers are satisfied and comfortable with the LIMS when we complete their implementation project, and by the time we shift to a maintenance program, they are actively using the system.

GenoLogics Implementation Objectives

The objectives of the GenoLogics implementation phase are

  • To perform the GenoLogics LIMS software installation
  • To ensure acceptance of the software
  • To transfer responsibility and knowledge of the GenoLogics LIMS operation over to you, the customer

Five Stages to Implementation Success

Our extensive experience in implementing LIMS software over the last nine years has allowed us to identify five critical stages that contribute to the success of your LIMS implementation.

Stage 1: Project Initiation - Planning for Implementation

The first step of planning is a pre-implementation and introduction meeting. This meeting lays the foundation for building a collaborative working relationship, leading to a smooth LIMS rollout. At this meeting, the GenoLogics team confirms the scope and overall objectives of the project, the implementation approach, and the customer resources required to participate in the implementation.

The second step of the planning stage is an IT technical planning discussion, in which the infrastructure requirements needed to support the LIMS are reviewed and clarified.

A solution overview meeting, led by the GenoLogics Field Application Scientist, takes place next. In this meeting, the detailed workflows and integrations to be delivered as part of the LIMS software are reviewed and validated. A demonstration of the product capabilities is provided to the resources that will be involved in the implementation.

Finally, the GenoLogics Project Manager creates a detailed Project Plan, which includes a Customer Training Plan. This plan is reviewed with the customer Project Manager to collaboratively build a realistic project schedule. Regular progress check-ins throughout the project will assess project status and drive any necessary corrections or changes in the direction or focus of the implementation.

Stage 2: Deployment & Configuration

In this stage, the GenoLogics Technical Services Analyst and your system administrator or IT staff will install the base GenoLogics LIMS software platform, and any preconfigured NGS packages, on your servers, within your technology infrastructure. Additionally, any instrument integrations purchased are configured, set up, and tested.

The Implementation Specialist will configure the GenoLogics LIMS based on the workflows described in the Statement of Work and will apply any changes needed as a result of the solution overview conducted in Stage 1. The final workflow configuration and integrations are then validated.

Stage 3: Technical Training

In this stage, and often in parallel with Stage 2, your LIMS administrators (or ‘super users’) are trained on system administration, user account setup, and maintenance basics.

If additional Adaptive Reports Training or API Rapid Scripting Training sessions have been purchased, these sessions are planned, scheduled, and delivered based on your specific needs.

Stage 4: Transitioning to Production

Stage 4 starts with an end-to-end sample walkthrough of the configured workflows in your LIMS. If your team has decided to conduct formal user acceptance testing during this phase, the GenoLogics team will support your testers. Any issues required for go-live are immediately addressed and managed to resolution.

End User Training & Go Live

Employee buy-in is critical to the success of the implementation. The Field Application Scientist works with your team to determine what is needed for End User Training. On-site training is then delivered, to enable your end users to efficiently use the LIMS in their day-to-day lab activities.

Once all elements of the LIMS have been validated, and both your team and the GenoLogics project team are confident of go-live success, it's time to begin enjoying the efficiencies that the GenoLogics LIMS will bring to your lab.

At this stage of the implementation, a copy of the Production LIMS server configuration is made and placed on your LIMS test server. This ensures that a working copy of your configuration, which replicates the production environment, is available for any future upgrade, API script, or report testing.

Stage 5: Maintenance & Support

Once you are successfully in production, the GenoLogics Implementation Team steps back and the GenoLogics Maintenance & Support team steps in to provide support for upgrades, issue resolution, and if purchased, consultation for Reporting or API Rapid Scripting.
